Dr. Jack J. Li (D.D.S., M.Sc., Ph.D.)
Dr. Jack J. Li graduated from the West China University of Medical Science in 1984 with a Bachelor of Dental Science. Upon immigration to Canada, Dr. Li obtained three degrees from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto Master of Science (1990), Doctor of Dental Surgery (1997), and Ph.D. (1998). Dr. Li has practiced, taught and did research in dentistry for over 18 years and owns a high-tech orientated, up-scaled modern dental centre in Willowdale (Toronto), Ontario.
Dr. Li is the fist scientist who cloned Bone Siloprotein gene promotor, has authored over 30 academic publication and international presentations, and is the winner of many academic awards for his scientific work. In his profession, he holds memberships for the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Ontario Dental Association, International Association of Orthodontics, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Li is a dedicated community activist. He initiated the well publicized Save Emma Campaign (story in Reader's Digest, May, 1998) which not only raised awareness of the importance of bone marrow donation in Toronto, but also promoted the formation of a Chinese bone marrow bank in China.
Dr. Li is advisor and board member of many organization in Canada and China. To name a few, he is president of Yunnan Association of Canada, the Vice-Chair of Alumni Association of Chinese Universities in Canada, Director of the Emma Foundation, and Committee member of Brush-a-Mania Campaign of the Toronto Academy of Dentistry. Dr. Li has maintained an excellent relations and dialogue with China and has given constructive advice to various levels of the Chines government. As an amateur photographer, he held a photo exhibition to promote a better understanding of chines cultures amongst Canadians. For his dedication and contribution, Dr. Li has received Number civic awards from local Chinese community, and from the government of Ontario.
